Happy birth day.

All of us have a birthday and most of us do remember our birth day.
Celebrating the birth day is altogether a different thing.

We all celebrated our birth day in a fitting manner up to our primary school days.
The preparation for the‘d’ day would start months before the actual date. In my younger days it would start with the arrival of next year’s calendar. There was no chance of forgetting the date, but on receipt of the new calendar the date would be marked. This was the beginning of the looking forward to the next birthday and its celebration. A lot of reminders would be given to parents that the birthday was on such and such date. This was a precautionary measure that parents should not forget to buy new dress and other presents, if any, for the birth day. Two to 3 weeks before the due date, the new dress would be purchased. The next few days were for dreaming about attending school in the new dress and boasting to friends about its quality &price! On the previous night a detailed checking would be done to see that everything was in order, on the birthday no alarm or shouting of mother would be a prerequisite to wake up. Before the sun rise I would be ready with the new dress! I think it would be same for all of us.
But slowly, when we grow up, we loose interest in the celebration part! May be due to the fact that we start realizing that our life is short by a year!
I just do not want to remember my birthday these days. But today I want to celebrate a birth day! Today is the birth day of my great friend! This day is an important day. Like my younger days I marked this date in the calendar, months back. I reminded myself about this day many a time. So at last the moment has come to wish my friend a very happy birthday.

"The rain may be falling hard outside,
But your smile makes it all alright.
I'm so glad that you're my friend.
I know our friendship will never end."

I sincerely greet you on this day and pray for the happiness through out the balance life period.
